Im not very good at remembering to update my news page but one of my new years resolutions is to get better at telling people what Im doing so here goes….
2012  started with a flourish with lots of developments and beginnings of projects that will grow throughout the year. Some are still in the development stage and I will talk more about them when they are confirmed. Heres a little round up of people Im working with and projects Im definitely working on so far…

Bristol Old Vic Ferment – January 2012

I worked on a 2 day  script development of a dark comedy called Family written by Greg Glover. We spent a day stripping away the script to its bare bones and a day getting it on its feet. It was a great process and a promising play which I hope has further legs.

Greg wrote a  blog about the process from his point of view here

I Am England  – written by David Lane.
A Script in hand reading performed at Theatre Royal Bath Shakespeare Unplugged Festival, February 2012

Since October 2011  I have been working with David Lane and  a group of 25 young people from Theatre Royal Bath Y.P.T to develop a fresh updated version of Shakespeares Coriolanus. From a series of devising sessions, scene readings and helpful discussions  David has created I Am England. A play about teenage confusion, about what it is to be English and  questioning what would we all fight for?
Performed by members of Y.P.T
Come along and tell us what you think.

Performances:
Monday 20th February,  The Egg theatre :  7.45
Friday 24  February, The Ustinov Theatre: 6pm

Shifts – Work in progress July 2012 produced by Theatre Bristol, supported by Bristol Old Vic Ferment and Arts Council England

Myself and Duncan Speakman have been lucky enough to get some A.C.E  funding to develop a piece which intigrates both of our practices.  The end product will be a promenade theatre piece around Bristol where the audience wear headphones. We hope to  intigrate strong narrative, epic music and subtle acting to create an experience which  feels like you are stepping into a living film. This is only the very beginning stages of that journey.
We have a few weeks in the spring to work out the possibilities of it,  which we will then test infront of an audience… watch this space I will say more as it develops …
